TENS Therapy

TENS Therapy, or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Therapy, is just one of the many types of therapy employed by the Family of Caring’s facilities in Paramus, New Jersey and Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

Approved by the FDA and covered by any insurance companies, TENS Therapy utilizes mild electrical pulses as an alternative to drugs for pain management. By gently stimulating the nerves, TENS is able to block pain signals before they can reach the brain. It’s used to manage pain of all types and varieties, including arthritic pain, and it’s especially popular amongst the elderly due to their increased risk of side effects from strong prescription medication.

Some patients are naturally apprehensive about receiving TENS Therapy, but really there’s nothing to be afraid of – the sensation received from TENS Therapy is that of relaxation, not of pain, and the current running through the machine is really very low.

For those suffering from chronic pain, a discussion with a therapist about TENS Therapy might yield relief from their pain. A quick call to Dellridge at (201) 265-5600 or Woodcliff Lake at (201) 391-0900 might be very helpful!
